Membership

Membership in Sigma Theta Tau International, The Honor Society of Nursing is by invitation only and is based on the following eligibility criteria for undergraduate and graduate students:

Undergraduate Students

  • Completed 1/2 nursing curriculum
  • Hold at least 3.0/4.0 GPA
  • Rank in upper 35% of class
  • Maintain academic integrity
  • Demonstrate leadership potential

Graduate Students

  • Completed 1/4 nursing curriculum
  • Hold at least 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Maintain academic integrity
  • Demonstrate leadership potential

Nurse Leaders

The eligibility criteria for Nurse Leaders (registered nurses) in the community are to

  • Must be a registered nurse, legally recognized to practice in your country
  • Must have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field
  • Must have demonstrated achievement in nursing

Call for Nurse Leaders to Become Sigma Theta Tau International Members

The Governance Committee of the Beta Iota Chapter encourages nurses who are not currently members of the The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, to apply for membership. Eligibility criteria are:

  • must be a registered nurse, legally recognized to practice in your country;
  • must have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field; and
  • must have demonstrated achievement in nursing.

If you are a nurse who meets the above criteria, please review the instructions for applying for membership at http://betaiota.org/membership.html and complete the application process. Please send the required application documents to Lu Ann Reed, Beta Iota Chapter Counselor and Chair of the Governance Committee, at reedlr@ucmail.uc.edu

Applications can be submitted at any time and will be reviewed by the Governance Committee upon receipt. Following the review process, the applicant will be notified of his/her eligibility and, if he or she is eligible, the induction process will be explained.
