Resilience, Innovation and Hope: Empowering Health Care Professionals

The conference will highlight the concept of foresight leadership to advance the development of foresight, resilience, and innovation among nurses. Steps in the foresight process will be presented to activate creativity, innovation, hope and transformational learning in nursing education, practice, research and policy development.

The unique role of resilience in addressing the post COVID negative effects on health care systems and health care professionals will be presented.

Program Objectives

At the end of this presentation, learners should be able to:

  • Define the concept of foresight leadership to advance the development of foresight, resilience, and innovation among nurses.
  • Describe steps in the foresight process to activate creativity, innovation, hope and transformational learning in nursing education, practice, research and policy development.
  • Explore references and resources to learn more about foresight leadership and innovation in nursing.
  • Discuss practical steps toward resilience among health care professionals experiencing burnout.

Keynote

Daniel J. Pesut, PhD, RN, FAAN, is a nurse educator, academic, researcher, consultant, and coach. He is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and Emeritus Katherine R and C Walton Lillehei Chair in Nursing Leadership at University of Minnesota.

Dr. Pesut served in the US Army Nurse Corps. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and an Honorary Member of the Global Academy of Holistic Nursing. He is past President of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International.

Dr. Pesut has a long-standing commitment to creativity, innovation, futures thinking, and foresight leadership in nursing and health care. The Daniel J. Pesut Spirit of Renewal Award honors his leadership legacy in nursing and is a Sigma International biennial award given to nurse leaders.

 

 

Speaker

Rajeev Kurapati, MD, is a physician, author and an advocate for the prevention and reversal of chronic diseases using healthy, sustainable and evidence-based lifestyle changes. He practices Hospital Medicine and serves as Medical Director of Integrative Oncology at a large healthcare organization in Northern Kentucky, USA. He draws insights from scientific knowledge and spiritual wisdom to provide answers to many of life’s existential questions.
