Secretary
Reports to: President
Term of Office: The term of office is two years beginning July 1 and ending June 30 of the second year. An elected officer may serve only three consecutive terms or six years on the Board of Directors.
Purpose: The Beta Iota Chapter Bylaws state that the Secretary shall
prepare and distribute meeting minutes and correspondence.
Qualifications: The Secretary shall:
- Be an active member in the Beta Iota Chapter.
- Consent to serve in the position and be elected by a majority vote of chapter members.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this position are:
- Attend scheduled Board of Directors meetings.
- Prepare minutes of Board of Directors and chapter business meetings.
- Distribute minutes to Board of Directors and Committee and Advisory Council Chairpersons prior to the next Board of Directors meetings.
- Serve as the correspondent with other chapters when delegated by President.
- Perform such activities as delegated by the President.
- Update the Sigma online list of new officers via Chapter Management between July 1 and July 7 of each year.
- Serve as Chair of the Communications Advisory Council or serve as the BOD liaison to the Communications Advisory Council with an appointed chairperson.
- Communicate chapter events and activities with UCCON faculty and students through information sharing with UCCON marketing staff.
- Maintain a current chapter membership directory via the Sigma Chapter Management system and share as appropriate with BOD and committee and advisory council chairpersons.
- Collaborate with other members of the Board of Directors and with committee and advisory council chairpersons to facilitate continuity of chapter programs, events, and activities.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to the position of Secretary and Communications Advisory Council.
- Attend chapter programs, activities, and events.
