Cynthia Prows,
MSN, APN, FAAN

Throughout her career as a clinical nurse specialist in genetics, Ms. Prows has focused on translation of genetic/genomic information and technology into clinical practice. She has concentrated on preparing the nursing workforce for genetic/genomic integration. Ms. Prows created, developed and has sustained the Genetics Education Program for Nurses for over 10 years, providing genetics education to over 3000 nurses nationally and internationally.

Ms. Prows provides genetics education expertise as a member of the Board of Directors, National Coalition for Health Professionals Education in Genetics. She is an education consultant for the Genetic Alliance’s HRSA funded “Family History Tool Community-based Dissemination and Integration in HRSA-funded Health Centers.” Ms. Prows authors manuscripts for specialty nursing journals and textbooks, and presents nationally and internationally. Most recently, she was the coprinciple investigator on Personalizing Perioperative Analgesia and Outcomes in Children funded by a CCHMC Outcomes Research Award. Since 2003, she has been a key member in the development, evaluation and improvement of the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Centers’ (CCHMC) Genetic Pharmacology Service.
